There's something so incredibly moving about this picture......  It has so much compassion to it.  I don't know what inspired you but the empathy to it is overwhelming.  Really......wow, you know.:)

you're welcome! I've wanted to get into digital painting but I've never been 100% sure about the process. How do you go about it?

That's a loaded question.

It's tough to say as there is no "be all and end all" way of doing things. what may work for one, may not for the other. In fact, finding one's approach and style is, in my opinion, a significant part of an artist's "coming of age".

So you're really left on own for the most part. There are universally important elements to painting that everyone should know at least a little about (like anatomy), but learning the basics is a matter of studying the right material (there are plenty of resources on the Internet).

Don't worry about it, though. As important as the fundamentals may be, they are not what sets you or your art apart from the crop.

As I see it, the single most important thing in art is for your creations to have personality and heart -- neither of which you'll find in books or videos.

It sounds cheesy, I know, and perhaps it's not much coming from me, but it is what I have always prioritized and I have no reason to believe I've been doing it wrong.

If all this has not satisfied you, trust me it is no cop out answer. There is far more to say on this topic, but I fear this is not the place to get into it any deeper.

If you value my opinion, I do think I have something more satisfying, something worth giving a look, if you want know more about stuff like this. Can't say what it is yet, but please have a little patience.

In the mean time, just do what you enjoy doing and don't get caught up by the "rules" of art. You are guaranteed to become a far greater artist than you are today as long as you keep at it. :D
